Aani is a smart and secure payment system that allows you to make cash-free transactions instantly and conveniently. No IBAN or account details required. Just your mobile number and email address. You can register for the Aani service through the Citi Mobile app. Aani is regulated and endorsed by the Central Bank of the UAE and it complies with the highest standards for security, reliability and transparency. 

With Aani, you can:

  • Send money instantly to another registered Aani user in the UAE.
  • Request a payment and you will be notified once it is done.
  • Scan a QR code to make payments at select merchants.

Yes, you can only send or receive money using Aani with another registered Aani user. You need to enroll with your bank account to be visible to another Aani user.

You can enroll for Aani with your Citi MBOL App. This is how:

  • On the Citi Mobile App home screen, tap “Payments” on the bottom menu.
  • Select “Manage Aani” and tap “Enroll in Aani”.
  • Select an Account and Proceed.
  • Select Default Account and Proceed.
  • Enter your 6-digit Unlock Code and Aani registration will be completed.

  • Open Aani, enter Mobile number and verify with OTP.
  • Select Account Provider and enter Bank User ID.
  • Enter your OTP, confirm and select ‘Proceed’.
  • Wait for Authentication.
  • Select Primary account on Aani App and Accept Privacy Policy.
  • Allow Notification and Location Pop-up.

  • Select ‘Manage Aani’.
  • Select ‘Manage Details’
  • Select ‘Add account’, select the account and proceed.
  • Enter your OTP. Aani details will be successfully updated.

You should receive an Aani payment instantly. So, if you have not received a payment sent to you in your selected Citi account, please check that you selected your Citi account as the default account in the Aani Mobile app. For any queries, please call us to investigate further.

At any point of time only one account can serve as the transactional account for Aani which will be referred to as default account.

The per transaction, per account, per day limit is currently set up to AED 2,500. Any changes to the limit will be communicated accordingly.

At present, Aani payments are limited to domestic transfers only, allowing customers to send and receive money only between accounts held at licensed financial institutions or licensed payment service providers in the UAE, in AED.

The amount will be reversed back to the customer account within 24 hours in case of rejection or failure. If not, you can reach out to Customer Care on our Citiphone number 04 311 4000.

Aani transfers cannot be cancelled or amended once processed since these are STP (straight-through-process) transactions which are sent instantly to beneficiary bank.

Citi customers will be able to avail Aani service free of cost.

  • Aani payments have been developed using the latest technology & security tools and infrastructure to ensure that payments can be executed securely and in a well-controlled environment.
  • All payments will require authorization to be executed, through biometrics authentication or PIN.
  • Customers should ensure that they are initiating payments to the right beneficiaries/contacts and should check the genuineness of the requesters of any payment as well as their transaction history.

If customers believe that their account has been hacked, or a payment has been initiated without authorization, they shall immediately report the event to the bank on our Citiphone number 04 311 4000.
